New Music - CDs from Amazon - Jason Falkner Rules!
The great thing about amazon.com is you can find almost anything! And when it comes to music, you don’t have to be restricted by the local shop manager who may not appreciate the Jellyfish or Frank Zappa.
The other day I did a cd hunting mission on amazon because I was curious what a few of my favorite artists were up to and since I’d never see their cd’s in the local cd store I was hoping for some suprises.
One of disks I bought was a reall KILLER! NOo, not the killers but a cd from Jason Falkner that just never reached the lower depths of the mainstream.
Why - I have no idea…
This guy is up there in brilliance with the best of the Beatles yet he can’t even crack PUBLIC RADIO or college stations… well maybe… that’s likely the only exposure he has had, but as I found with his cd “Bliss Descending” there is no shortage of new great music out there!
This cd is as good as his previous monster “Author Unknown” which is really tops in my books…
This guy, Jason Falkner and Eric Matthews plus bands like Dada plus The Grays among others are national treasures that deserve at least some acclaim.
The music is POP and is very catchy BUT it has staying power as it breaks convention oh so slightly and challenges us just a little bit. Not too much - don’t run away scared now…
“The Neighbor” wow… talk about catchy… After 1 listen I was already singing this one and after a few listens it was etched on my mind
Same with “They Put Her In The Movies”. Wow. Brilliance. Pop music can have songs with words that are interesting.
“Moving Up” is another great one.
My only cpmplaint about Jason Falkners cd Bliss Descending is that it is too short… 5 songs is not enough!
Well, I hope we can see something new from Jason soon. His voice deserves to be heard.
11/12/06 Hey! I just found some great stuff on eBay for Jason Falkner and Jellyfish! Wow! Here is a link to some current Jason Falkner Jellyfish Items

Buyers: Few Rock-Solid Shows In Nets'Fall Lineups (AdWeek.com)
AdWeek.com - Though media buyers credited each of the broadcast networks—except NBC—for finding at least a few fall 2005 shows that will become solid performers, it wasn't until UPN showed off its Everybody Hates Chris comedy that they felt they had found a truly buzz-worthy show. In general, however, there's a feeling of sameness across all the networks'schedules that left buyers largely unimpressed.
Your opinions please…

I saw that the Rolling Stones are back at it and doing a mondo sized tour. My age is becomming more evident as I saw them 20 years ago at the Oakland Coloseum.
As concerts go it was OK, but geez, can they still rock 20 years later??? Mick is in his 60’s!
Here is an excerpt of the article with details of the Stones tour.

Rolling Stones Revival Tour to Stop in Atlanta
Fans Can Buy Tickets Saturday
NEW YORK — Roll over Beethoven, and tell Tchaikovsky the news: The Rolling Stones announced a new album and world tour Tuesday with a three-song mini-concert at one of Manhattan’s bastions of classical music, The Juilliard School.
The familiar crunching riff of “Start Me Up” was greeted with a roar from hundreds of fans filling Lincoln Center from its plaza to its rooftops, as sixty-something lead singer Mick Jagger launched into the lyrics.
“Thank you very much guys,” Jagger told the cheering crowd at the century-old conservatory on a sunny spring afternoon. “This is one of the earliest concerts we’ve played.”
The brief show promoted the tour that begins Aug. 21 at Fenway Park, where the legendary rock dinosaurs will play in front of the Green Monster. Dates in North America will continue through December.
